ಹೆಸರೇ ಹೇಳುವಂತೆ ಇದು ಸರಳವಾದ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಪ್ರೇಮಕ"ಥೆ. ಅನಾಮಿಕರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಹುಡುಗ-ಹುಡುಗಿ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮುಗಿಸುವ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಎಷ್ಟು ಹತ್ತಿರವಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಈ ಚಿತ್ರ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸುನಿ ಅವರ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ. ಹುಕ್ ಆರ್ ಕ್ರುಕ್, ದುಡ್ಡು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಬಂದ ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರನ್ನು ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬಾ ನಗಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಏನೇನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೋ ಅವೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಸುನಿ - ಚೇತನ್ ನಾಡಿಗೇರ್

ಖುಷ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪುಷ್ ಗೆಳೆಯರು. ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಲು ಪುಷ್‌ಗೆ ಹುಡುಗಿ ನೋಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆ ಹುಡುಗಿ ಹೆಸರು ಖುಷಿ. ಆದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮದುವೆ ಇಷ್ಟವಿಲ್ಲ. ಆ ಮದುವೆಯ ಅವಕಾಶ ಖುಷ್‌ಗೆ ವರ್ಗವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಖುಷ್ ಹುಡುಗಿಯ ಫೋಟೊ ನೋಡಿಲ್ಲ! ಈ ನಡುವೆ ಪುಷ್‌ಗೆ ಖುಷಿ ಇಷ್ಟವಾಗುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಲು ಒಪ್ಪುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಉಡಾಫೆ, ತರ್ಲೆಯ ಖುಷ್‌ಗೆ ಖುಷಿ ಅಚಾನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ಕಾರವಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಖುಷ್ ಮತ್ತು ಖುಷಿ ನಡುವೆ ಪ್ರೇಮ ಅರಳುತ್ತದೆ.

ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತಹ ಕತೆಯಿಲ್ಲ. ತುಂಬಾ ಸಿಂಪಲ್ ಸ್ಟೋರಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾತಿನ ಮೂಲಕವೇ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಇದೇ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರ ಈ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಸಿಂಪಲ್ಲಾಗೊಂದ್ ಲವ್‌ಸ್ಟೋರಿ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಫಾರ್ಮುಲಾನೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಡೀ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಕತೆಯು ಪ್ರಯಾಣದಲ್ಲೇ ಸಾಗುವುದರಿಂದ ದೃಶ್ಯಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮಹತ್ವ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರು. ಎಂದಿನಂತೆ ಸುನಿ ಪಡ್ಡೆಗಳ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಡಬಲ್ ಮೀನಿಂಗ್ ಡೈಲಾಗ್‌ಗೆ ಮೊರೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ಕಾರವಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಡುವ ಕತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪೀಡ್ ಬ್ರೇಕರ್‌ನಂತೆ ಸಿಗುವ ಸ್ಮಗ್ಲರ್‌ಗಳು ಕತೆಯ ಓಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸಖತ್ ಬ್ರೇಕ್ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕಾಡಿನ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಸ್ಮಗ್ಲರ್ ಜತೆಗಿನ ಫೈಟ್ ತೀರಾ ಬಾಲಿಶವಾಗಿದೆ - ಶರಣು ಹುಲ್ಲೂರು

Simpallag Innondh Love Story Movie Review - Times of India

The film is fun, breezy and colourful and strikes the right chord with Gen X, sans any unnecessary mass elements. While Sandalwood has its share of romantic films, the breezy romcoms are not as many. Most of the films masked as romcoms end up compromising the genre with mass elements that play distraction. Suni, in Simpallag Innondh Love Story, has weaved a love story that keeps you entertained through the 142 minutes in the cinema hall, which pretty much is what good cinema is meant to do. There isn't any over-the-top acting, nor is there any message that is preached in the end. Instead, Suni's dialogues are a treat to the younger generation, proving to be more original lines rather than a barrage of SMS forwards strung together as dialogues. The fun fight sequence towards the end, with an allusion to John Cena and WWE is something that is both novel and hilarious. Praveen, who makes his comeback, is a treat to watch, with his natural style of acting and comic timing. Meghana Gaonkar looks her best till date on screen and delivers a memorable performance. Evidently, the story was the last thing written in this script. Most likely, a lot of dialogues were first put together and incidents and scenes created out of them. The story was an afterthought, to string together these incidents. They may work sometimes, but not in this film. It is a very predictable journey. Boy meets girl and circumstances force them to travel together. At the end of it (overnight), they are in love but a film story demands a twist. It is one more road story that depends excessively on dialogues to keep the audience engaged. But very soon, it becomes an overdose and the film drags itself forward painfully slowly. - Shyam Prasad S

Simplag Innondu Love Story 'Simply' Engaging - The New Indian Express

Like in his first film, Suni focuses on the lead actors while including a sidekick, Tube.

The film travels through one-liners and quirky dialogues along with a few double-meaning ones, but they do not irritate. Meghana Gaonkar has justified her role while Praveen has put in his best effort as an urbane lover. He is spontaneous but has room for improvement. Little boy Hemanth comes as a lively inclusion.

BJ Bharath and Sai Kiran's music is pleasant with a couple of lovely songs, but the cinematographer could have done a better job. - A Sharadhaa
