ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ಹೈಪ್ ಕ್ರಿಯೇಟ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ 'ಹೆಬ್ಬುಲಿ' ಸಿನಿಮಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುದೀಪ್ ಅಕ್ಷರಶಃ ಅಬ್ಬರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ದೇಶ ಪ್ರೇಮ ಉಕ್ಕಿಸುವಂಥ ಕತೆಯ ತುಂಬಾ ಅವರೇ ಆವರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರಲ್ಲದೆ, ಗಂಭೀರ ನಟನೆಯಿಂದ ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಿಚ್ಚೆಬ್ಬಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಸಿನಿಮಾದಿಂದ ಸಿನಿಮಾಗೆ ಸುದೀಪ್ ಅಭಿನಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಗುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಸಿನಿಮಾದಲ್ಲಂತೂ ಅವರ ಅಭಿನಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತಾಡುವ ಹಾಗೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಸೆಂಟಿಮೆಂಟ್, ಆಕ್ಷನ್, ಫೈಟ್, ರೊಮ್ಯಾನ್ಸ್ ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಟಿ ಇಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ನಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪ್ಯಾರಾ ಕಮಾಂಡೋ ಪಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಸುದೀಪ್ ಹೇಳಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದಂತಿದ್ದಾರೆ - ಹರೀಶ್ ಬಸವರಾಜ್

ಚಿತ್ರ ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ಕಿಕ್ ಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ಎರಡು ಮತ್ತು ಮೂರನೇ ಕಾರಣ ಕಿಚ್ಚ ಸುದೀಪ್. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಒಪ್ಪುವಂಥ ಪಾತ್ರ ಕಮಾಂಡರ್ ರಾಮ್. ಸಣ್ಣದಾಗಿ ಮೀಸೆಯಂಚಲ್ಲೇ ನಗಲಿ, ಹೀರೋಯಿನ್ನು ಜೊತೆ ಕಸಿವಿಸಿಯಲ್ಲೇ 'ಸುಂದರಿ ಸುಂದರಿ' ಅಂತ ಭರತನಾಟ್ಯ ಕುಣಿಯಲಿ, ದುಃಖವನ್ನು ಕಣ್ಣಲ್ಲೇ ಬಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಹನಿ ತುಳುಕಿಸಲು, ಅಬ್ಬರಿಸಲಿ, ಸಂಹರಿಸಲಿ, ಕೈಲಿ ಡಿಸೈನ್ ಡಿಸೈನ್ ಆಯುಧ ಗಳನ್ನಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಬೀಸಲಿ - ಎಲ್ಲದರಲ್ಲೂ ಸುದೀಪ್ ಅವರದ್ದೇ ಒಂದು ಕೈ ಮೇಲೆ - ವಿಕಾಸ್ ನೇಗಿಲೋಣಿ

'Hebbuli' Movie Review - Times of India

The film begins with a high octane fight sequence in Kashmir that sets the right tone, followed by an uber cool introduction track. The film begins with a cute love story, but immediately changes track into a well edited thriller. The film, unlike most of the big star entertainers, isn't too long and is well under two and a half hours long. This works to its advantage as it is peppered with just the right amount of comedy and romance, without taking away focus from the main plot - Sunayana Suresh

Strictly for Sudeep fans: The Indian Express

Hebbuli manages to capture attention with the opening scene itself. A special force team, led by Captain Raam (Sudeep), launch a surgical strike beyond the enemy lines to neutralise a high-value target and rescue hostages, including Nandhini (Amala Paul). Director and writer S Krishna successfully establish the physical and intellectual prowess of the hero in an aesthetically composed action scene. From the borders of Kashmir, the story brings Raam to his hometown Bengaluru, following the suspicious death of his brother, Sathya Moorthy (V Ravichandran), an IAS Officer. The film still holds attention. Raam knows in his heart that his brother's death is not a suicide as concluded by the police. With his deduction skills, he finds out there were few others in the room with his brother at the time of his death. His investigation begins to piece together the events leading up to the crime. I can't exactly pinpoint at which point the narration lost its grip but, definitely, post interval, it becomes a regular action film - Manoj Kumar R

Generic Dose of Action and Revenge Drama - Bangalore Mirror

Hebbuli is an unusual film for some reasons and a generic film for others. It tries to tackle a very serious issue and stands apart. At the same time, it devotes most of its energies to the hero-oriented action-thriller commercial formula. For a fan of the lead actor Sudeep, Hebbuli is a feast. For others, it is a formula film with a touch of a social message. It has a straightforward story about an army special forces soldier coming home to avenge the death of his brother - Shyam Prasad S
