'ಚಂಬಲ್' ಹೆಸರು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ಪಕ್ಕನೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕಣ್ಣ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರುವುದು ಕಣಿವೆ ನಾಡಿನ ಡಕಾಯಿತರ ಚಿತ್ರಣ. ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆ ಹೊಡೆಯುವ ಡಕಾಯಿತರು ಕೇವಲ ಚಂಬಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ನಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ ಎನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ಇದೇ ಹೆಸರನ್ನಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಈ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಸಾರುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಭ್ಯರ ಮುಖವಾಡ ಧರಿಸಿ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆ ಹೊಡೆಯುವ ಪುಢಾರಿಗಳು ಹೇಗೆ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಬಲಿ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಈ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಜೇಕಬ್ ವರ್ಗೀಸ್ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ - ನವೀನ್ ಕುಮಾರ್.ಜಿ

ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಐಎಎಸ್‌ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ, ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿ ಮತ್ತು ಭೂ ಮಾಫಿಯಾಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ಸಂಘರ್ಷದ ಸಿನಿಮಾಗಳು ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಬಂದಿವೆ. ಇಂಥ ಪ್ರಕರಣಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ಸುತ್ತ ನಡೆಯುವುದನ್ನೂ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಇವೆಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿ ಚಂಬಲ್‌ ಚಿತ್ರ ಮೂಡಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಜೇಕಬ್ ವರ್ಗೀಸ್. ಒಂದು ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಡುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಯಶಸ್ಸು ಅಡಗಿದೆ ಎನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ಚಂಬಲ್‌ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದೆ. ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸಹಜವೆನ್ನುವಂತೆ, ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕ ಕುರ್ಚಿಯ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂತು ನೋಡುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ ಚಂಬಲ್‌ - ಪದ್ಮಾ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ

A satisfying thriller : Deccan Herald

The films works well as a thriller. Looking at a run-time less than two hours, I wondered whether the host of characters revealed in the promos can sync well with the story. They do, thanks to the smart writing. Every scene feels real and keeps you invested. The dialogues, thankfully, aren't over the top - Vivek.M.V

The story is told without much frills and sans any melodrama. This proves to be engaging and elevates the tale. There are a couple of songs in the film and one wonders if those could have been done away with, as they seem to be bumps in an otherwise well-scripted narrative.
