ತಾಯಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಮಗ ಎಂಬ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆ ಕೇಳಿದಾಕ್ಷಣ ಇದೊಂದು ತಾಯಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಗನ ಕರುಳ ಬಳ್ಳಿಯ ಕಥೆ ಇರಬಹುದು ಅಂತ ಅನಿಸಬಹುದು. ಮಗನಿಗಾಗಿ ತಾಯಿಯೋ, ತಾಯಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಗನೋ ಹಂಬಲಿಸುವ ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿನ ಕಥೆಯೂ ಆಗಿರಬಹುದು ಎಂಬ ಅಂದಾಜೂ ಸಿಗಬಹುದು. ಇವೆರಡರ ಆಚೆಯೂ ನಿಂತು "ತಾಯಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಮಗ, ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಶಶಾಂಕ್. ಇವನು ಅಂತಿಂಥ ಮಗನಲ್ಲ, ಕಾನೂನು ಪಾಲನೆಯ ತಾಯಿ, ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನಷ್ಟೇ ಫಾಲೋ ಮಾಡುವ ಮಗ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಅವನು ನಡೆದದ್ದೇ ಹಾದಿ, ಓಡಿದ್ದೇ ಓಟವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ - ಶರಣು ಹುಲ್ಲೂರು

ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆಯೇ ಹೇಳುವಂತೆ ಇದೊಂದು ತಾಯಿ-ಮಗನ ಸೆಂಟಿಮೆಂಟ್ ಕತೆ. ಹಾಗಂತ ಮಗನಿಗಾಗಿ ಅಮ್ಮ, ಅಮ್ಮನಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಗ ಹಂಬಲಿಸುವ ನೋವಿನ ಕತೆಯಷ್ಟೇ ಇಲ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮಾನವೀಯತೆಗಾಗಿ ಅವರ ಹೋರಾಟ. ಕೆಟ್ಟ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯ-ದಬ್ಬಾಳಿಕೆಯ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಅವರ ಯುದ್ಧ. ಕಾನೂನು ಪಾಲಿಸುವ ಅಮ್ಮ, ಅಮ್ಮನನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸುವ ಮಗ. ಹಾಗೊಂದು ಬದ್ಧತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ದುಷ್ಟರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೇಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ಸಾರಿ, ಗೆಲ್ಲುತ್ತಾರೆನ್ನುವುದೇ ಈ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಒಂದು ಎಳೆ - ದೇಶಾದ್ರಿ ಹೊಸ್ಮನೆ

Overall, the film has no signature of a trademark Shashank film. Although he has written the script and directed, his experiment of treading a new path seems to have fallen flat. Fight sequences (mostly karate style), dialogues and romantic scenes are repetitive. And with no hint of twists and turns, the end is too predictable.
